The Jerónimos Monastery strikes an impressive figure in Lisbon’s architectural tapestry. A former monastery, near the Tagus river, it is one of the pre-eminent examples of the Late Gothic Manueline style common in Lisbon. It was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby Tower of Belém, in 1983.

2) Palace De Pena
One of the most amazing places to visit, located just outside of Lisbon, is the magical village of Sintra. A mountain resort famed for its picturesque features, its national park has several unique and historic palaces, castles, scenic beaches, parks, and gardens. While the whole town and gardens are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site, its most famous landmark has to be the Palace De Pena. Its colorful facade and breathtaking views almost transport you to fairytale land. When it comes to day trips, this one has to be top of your list!

3) Arco da Rua Augusta

The Rua Augusta Arch is the ornate gateway to the Praça do Comércio square. It was built to commemorate the city’s reconstruction after an earthquake in the 18th century and features an elaborate stone facade, 6 columns, and multiple statues, making it the perfect backdrop for your next hit on the ‘gram.

4) Torre De Belem

Head down to Belem, it’s the setting for many of the city’s most iconic tourist attractions. With no tourists around, it’s the perfect opportunity to get your insta snaps in front the Torre de Belem without getting photobombed! 5) Pink Street
