5 UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES WARSAW
- Visit one of the famous “Bar Mleczny”
One way to gain insight into a country’s culture and history is through its food. Bar Mleczny, literally translated as “Milk Bars” are no exception.
First established in the 1800’s these small cafes rose to increasing prominence after the second world war when Poland came under communist rule. The milk bars were subsidised by the communist government as a method of social welfare, providing cheap food to workers. These cafes predominantly served vegetarian and dairy food due to meat rationing and gained their nickname from the cheese cutlets they sold.
Despite no longer living in a post war climate, Milk bars are popular as ever with Locals, Students and tourists alike due to the quality cheap food provided. We highly recommend checking one out such as Bar Mleczny Presowy in Warsaw!

2. Take a Ride on a Party Boat!
Warsaw is a party city just as much as its sister Krakow in the south, however knowing where to go and meeting the right people can pose difficult. A brilliant solution and experience is to take a ride on one of warsaw’s party boats! Sailing down the stunning vistula river, unlimited free booze with a like minded group of travelers and revellers for the cost of two drinks back home?! Priceless!
3. Enjoy a “Chopin Concert”
Frederic Chopin is considered to be one of Poland’s most famous sons, composers and Warsaw was the city of his birth. A unique experience for any music lover is to attend one of the Chopin concerts, in the traditional buildings on the main square. You can expect to be regaled with a history of his life, followed by a stunning recital of his works and light snacks and drinks.

4. Drink your way to knowledge at the Vodka Museum!
The most iconic Polish drink, vodka, has a special role in the history and culture of the city and country. The Vodka Museum in Warsaw is an amazing immersive experience located in the 19th century building of the former Warszawska Wytwórnia Wódek Koneser vodka factory. It was home to some of the biggest brands in its day including Wyborowa and Luksusowa.
On one of their guided tours, you will learn over 500 years of history of the most famous Polish alcohol, the evolution of its production technology, traditions, and customs associated with it.
With 5 interactive galleries, get a really hands-on learning experience and discover a centuries old culture and custom ending with a tasting and your own vodka experimentation at the “Vodka Academy”! With the help of one of the museum’s knowledgeable guides, you can compare the flavours of vodkas from rye, wheat and potatoes. No worries if you get hungry as well as the museum also boasts a restaurant and bar!

5. Lace up your boots and go on a Walking Tour!
Pay what you want Walking tours are a brilliant way to get a feel for a city. Knowledgeable guides give you a tour of Warsaw and through their local lense and expertise, give you an authentic insight into the history and culture.
Learn about everything from the Mermaid of Warsaw to the heroes of the uprising and life under Soviet rule. It’s also a really good way to get to know your way around the city so we recommend you do this early into your trip!
These tours usually do last a couple of hours, so we really recommend comfy shoes, a snack, and plenty of water!
