FAQ's


What do I need to check in?

A valid National photo ID (such as passport, driver's licence, national military service card, etc) is required. Student Cards are not accepted as valid ID.

Check-in & check-out

The Check-in start time is at 14:00. Safestay is open 24 hours, 7 days week. Check-out time is by 10:00am. Late check-outs will incur a charge of an additional night. Early arrivals can use our luggage room and safety deposit boxes to leave personal effects prior to check-in. Safestay accepts no liability for the loss, theft or damage to property however sustained or caused.

Booking process

For online bookings: Go to the "Book Now" page, select your dates and room type and follow the payment instructions. You'll then receive an email confirmation with your booking details and reference.
By email / phone: if you prefer, you can always send us an email for special bookings and requests. You'll find our information on the "Contact" page.
For group bookings: Please contact us by phone on +44 (0)20 3326 8471 or by email at groups@safestay.com or fill out the form on the Group Bookings page.

Is there any booking fee?

You will be charged a non refundable deposit of 10% of your total stay when you book with us (online only). For email/phone bookings we require valid credit card details when making your reservation. This will guarantee your booking.

How long do I have to make a cancellation?

Cancellations must be done 24hrs prior to arrival either by e-mail or telephone. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the cost of the first night.

Is linen included?

Yes, free linen is included. Beds are made prior to arrival.

What about towels, are they included?

We rent towels at £2.00 per towel (£5.00 deposit). We also sell towels for £10.00. Our private rooms include towels.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast is not included in the price but is available to purchase for £4.00. We offer a continental style buffet that includes quality ham, cheese, and a selection of breads, cereals, fruit and juices as well as tea and coffee. Breakfast is served daily between 07:00 and 09:00am

Is there Internet access?

All Safestay Hostels offer 100% FREE Wi-Fi in communal areas. Internet terminals are also available with hourly fees. Safestay seeks to offer the most safe and comfortable stay possible and believes providing Wi-Fi in bedrooms may lead to uncomfortable situations for some guests; which is why we only provide free Wi-Fi in communal areas.

What time do I have to leave the hostel?

Check-out from the rooms is by 10:00am, but you may still use the bar facilities and lounge throughout the day. Late check-outs will incur a charge of an additional night.

How do I get there?

All information on how to find us is detailed on each hostel's main page listed under 'Directions'.

Is there a curfew?

There is no curfew; you can enter and leave as you please.

Are the hostels safe and secure?

The clue is in the name. Safestay understands the need for guests to feel safe and secure. To that end all our hostels are staffed 24hrs each day and access is controlled using Electronic Key cards. We also have CCTV throughout each building and each bed comes with its own locker, for safe storage of your valuables.

Is food available to purchase?

Yes, we offer a continental breakfast and we have a short food menu in the bar. Vending machines offering snacks and drinks are available 24 hours.

Do you have a bar?

We have a bar available for guests.

Are the rooms unisex?

All rooms are unisex, but upon demand we will try and arrange single sex dorms, subject to availability. Please call reception on +44 (0)20 3326 8471

Are families welcome?

We encourage families to stay with us and take advantage of either our multi-bedded dorms or even our 2 bedded or 3 bedded private rooms. We do not allow families with children aged 16yrs and under to share dorms with other guests, therefore all beds in a multi-bedded dorm must be booked and paid for in order to make these rooms private for families.

Is smoking permitted?

Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the Safestay premises. A smoking area and ashtrays are provided outside the building or in our garden area during opening hours.

Payment methods

We accept credit card, cash or traveller's cheques, in Sterling Pounds only. We do not accept American Express.

Do you have weekly rates?

No, we do not have weekly or monthly rates.

Who can stay in your hostels?

Safestay welcomes all customers and unlike some of our competitors we do not require guests to be members of any organisation in order to enjoy our facilities and services. Guests staying with Safestay must be 18 years or over or must be accompanied by someone 18 years or over.

Do you have a place to leave bicycles?

Yes, we have secure bicycle storage

Do you provide a laundry?

Yes, we have coin operated washing and drying machines. Irons (£10.00 deposit) and ironing boards are supplied too.

Is there a limit on how long I can stay?

Yes, Safestay has a maximum stay policy of 1 month. You are welcome to come back to Safestay, but with a minimum 1 months rest period.

Aaahhh...breathe easy!

We're a 100% smoke-free environment. So please follow our no-smoking rules - there's a £250 fine per night for anyone lighting up inside the hotel.
