Safestay purchases new city centre hotel in Glasgow, Scotland
The Best Western Glasgow City Hotel, in Scotland’s commercial and cultural hub, becomes Safestay’s 15th property.
Safestay is excited to announce the acquisition of The Best Western Glasgow City Hotel. The new hostel is part of a strategy to establish a European network of hostels, located in the most popular tourist cities. Glasgow represents a city where there is always something to do, a gateway to explore Scotland’s famous localities and breathtaking landscapes.
The Glasgow City Hotel is located in the centre, nestled around an event and entertainment hub. Providing easy access to The SSE Hydro Arena and a 2-minute walk from Charing Cross train station. The Hotel is well maintained, highly reviewed and already very popular, with great quality rooms. Safestay will end the Best Western relationship immediately and will honour all existing bookings. Refurbishment work will then begin early next year where Safestay plan to convert the hotel into a 200-bed hostel.
The Hotel sits comfortably within Safestay’s ethos; to create accommodation where there is always something to do, from local tours, to live music events, or hanging out in their bar whilst making new friends. The Safestay brand of hostels are vibrant and attract people from all over the world. There is a friendly local team, delivering an award-winning standard of quality, cleanliness and customer service. All for an affordable price.
“Given the success of our 615-bed Edinburgh hostel, now a flagship within our portfolio, we have been looking for some time to find the right site in Glasgow. We very much look forward to Safestay Glasgow becoming part of the portfolio”
–Larry Lipman, Chairman of Safestay
