La Mercè Festival – Barcelona’s Biggest Street Party

Oktoberfest Barcelona

🍺 German beer, bratwurst and live oompah bands land at Fira Barcelona Gran Via for one of the city’s most popular autumn events among younger travellers and backpackers. It runs for over two weeks, bridging September and October, so there’s plenty of opportunity to fit the Spanish-Bavarian fusion into a Barcelona city break.

It is definitely a unique time to visit La Rambla – for the whole week the street is filled with floral displays, free guided tours, craft workshops and live music. A highlight for foodies visiting Barcelona in Autumn is the wild mushroom tasting at Mercat de la Boqueria, marking the start of Catalonia’s beloved mushroom season. It’s one of the best times to experience “local Barcelona” on a street most visitors only ever pass through.

Castanyada (Catalan Chestnut Festival) / Halloween & Tots Sants (All Saints’ Day)
