It's so beautiful that you need to get a picture in all of these Instagram spots!
A big part of travelling is getting those perfect Instagram shots and I think we can all agree Lisbon is probably one of the best, if not the best, places to get amazing Instagram pictures! We’ve decided to round up our favourite and compile them in a list so you know where to go! Scroll down below to find 9 of the BEST Instagrammable spots in Lisbon!
1. Lisbon Cathedral
- Location: Largo da Sé, 1100-585 Lisboa, Portugal
What?
Deep into the Alfama District, you’ll find the Lisbon Cathedral. One of Lisbon’s most recognised and prestigious buildings for obvious reasons.
If you want to get the best picture, you can wait for the Tram 28 to make its way past the cathedral and snap an epic shot of the two popular Lisbon sights together! It is generally a busy area so be sure to go there in the early hours to avoid people in your picture!
2. Ler Devagar
- Location: R. Rodrigues de Faria 103 - G 0.3, 1300-501 Lisboa, Portugal
- Hours: Tue-Thu: 11am - 11pm; Fri-Sat: 11am-1am; Sun-Mon: 11am-9pm
What?
If the above didn’t give it away, Ler Devagar is actually a library! And what a beautiful library it is! It is actually located in one of the most popular areas of Lisbon, the LX Factory (we’ll talk more about this later). Once you’ve got your picture you can enjoy a nice read with a cup of coffee. #Hipsterlife!

3. Carmo Convent
- Location: Largo do Carmo, 1200-092 Lisboa, Portugal
What?
The Carmo Convent is actually the framework of a huge church that was destroyed by an earthquake way back in 1755! What is left are the beautiful arches and pillars reaching up into the Lisbon sky. The sheer beauty of this is why it makes it on our list of the 9 best Instagrammable spots in Lisbon!

4. LX Factory
- Location: R. Rodrigues de Faria 103, 1300-501 Lisboa, Portugal
What?
Introduced in spot number 2, the LX Factory has become a popular area in Lisbon. It has become an area filled with those hipster coffee shops, quirky stores and funky outdoor bars. There is also a variety of street art and light features that make for the best Instagram spot ever! You’ll be spoilt for choice with the array of potential Instagram shots you could take! Your followers and likes will surge through the roof!

5. Pena Palace
- Location: Estrada da Pena, 2710-609 Sintra, Portugal
What?
The Pena Palace is absolutely amazing. It’s one of those castles you only see in your dreams! With bold colours used on the buildings, it’s hard to find the best spot for an Instagram shot because there are so many!

Try and get the whole castle in your frame, this really captures the whole palace and will look amazing in your picture!
6. Village Underground
- Location: R. 1º de Maio 103, 1300-472 Lisboa, Portugal
- Hours: Everyday: 11am-7pm
What?
Village Underground in Lisbon will be one of the most interesting areas you visit in Lisbon! It is 14 maritime containers and 2 disabled buses strategically made to be a space for creative activities, as well as a venue for cultural events. There is also music and various parties throughout the rest of the week. However, it has made it on our list of the 9 best Instagrammable spots in Lisbon because it has also become a spot where people gather to take cool Instagram pictures!
7. Rio Maravilha
- Location: R. Rodrigues de Faria 103, 1300-501 Lisboa, Portugal
- Hours: Tue-Sun: 12:30 pm - 2am
What?
If you only go to one rooftop bar in Lisbon make sure it is this one! Part of the LX Factory hype, a former industrial complex is also a popular Instagram spot. The thing that makes this an Instagram spot is the big colourful version of the famous statue of Crista Rainha! The other great thing is that it overlooks the 25 de Abril Bridge so its a perfect place to have a drink too!
8. Pilar 7
- Location: N6 34, 1300-472 Lisboa, Portugal
- Hours: Everyday: 10 am - 6 pm
What?
The 25 de Abril bridge has 14 pillars, but the one that is ‘in’ right now is on Avenida da Índia located at the back of Village Underground. This is a new tourist attraction that takes visitors inside this which is pretty much all glass! It lifts them to the same height as the bridge and gives you a great view of the city! I repeat you’re placed in a container made of glass so if you’re afraid of heights, maybe you can skip this Instagram picture!

9. MAAT
- Location: Av. Brasília, 1300-598 Lisboa, Portugal
- Hours: Wed-Mon: 11 am - 7 pm
What?
What was once a power station on the banks of the Tagus River in Belém is now a museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. The building has a shell structure this wave-like appearance which fits perfectly as it’s on the banks of the Tangus River. This also means that it is a really good background for a great Insta pic! You can also walk on the rood of the building and to top it off there is an outside staircase that descends into the water! You won’t be just taking pics, you’ll be videoing the whole experience.
