Luckily for you, we have created an article on the 20 Best  Techno Festivals in Europe to help you decide where you should go! We will give you all the important information such as the lineups, festival dates and tickets prices as well as where to buy them!

   

1. South West Four

 

Location: Clapham Common, London

Dates: 24-25th August

What?

The best way to spend your bank holiday in August is to spend it at South West Four. DJing legend Carl Cox has referred to as ‘the crowning glory’.

The two-day festival will be held in Clapham Common and will be filled with the best EDM, house, techno, drum and bass and grime music.

Rumour has it that 2019 will have the biggest lineup South West Four has ever put forward. Previous festivals have hosted world-class DJs such as Marshmellow, Sasha, Fatboy Slim, Paul Van Dyk and Skrillex as headline acts. 2019 is the year for South West Four.

How to get there?

Getting to South West Four is very straightforward

Train
For those that take the Underground, simply take the Northern Line to Clapham common. Clapham Common closes at 9 pm in the night and the nearest underground station will be Clapham South (8 minutes walk) or Clapham Junction (25-minute walk)

Busses
Nearby bus stops served by buses: 35, 37, 88, 137, 155, 255, 345, 355, 417.

2. Awakenings Festival

 
Location: Gashouder Amsterdam, Netherlands

Dates: 19-21 April 2019

What?

Awakenings has been putting on festivals since the year 2000! They have become so popular that any techno fan that hasn’t heard of this festival is not a true techno fan. With over 80,000 visitors in a weekend you best pencil in Awakenings Festival in your calendar.

There are over 100 DJ’s playing at this festival which includes DJ guru’s Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Nina Kraviz, Loco Dice and more. The popular Sven Väth, Chris Liebing and Berghain residents Ben Klock and Marcel Dettman will be putting on great performances with great features such as pyrotechnics and fireworks. This is not one to miss!

3. Love International

 

Location: Tisno, Croatia

Dates: 3-10 July 2019

What?

Love International 2019 is set in Tisno, Croatia. It is continuing the legacy created by ‘The Garden Festival’, and is now creating its own unique magic in Croatia. This festival goes for a whole week giving you a nice little break away from home to enjoy both the music and the country!

It will be a full packed week with amazing boat parties, open-air Barbarella’s shows and Sunrise Sessions. Whether you will like to dance in the sea or relax under the sun one thing is for sure, Love International 2019 will be the best festival yet.

4. Sónar Barcelona

 
Location: Barcelona

Dates: 18-20th July 2019

What?

Sónar is “positioned at the cutting edge of the electronic music landscape” as they gather famous artists with emerging ones to perform in one of Barcelona’s most popular festivals.

There is also cool events, such as Sónar+D, designed for various creative communities, providing development sessions and opportunities to exchange ideas and tools perfect for anyone who is seeking some inspiration in the industry!

Sónar Barcelona events are divided into two main locations:

– Sónar by Day, located in Fira Montjuïc, offers concerts and DJ’s and is when and where Sónar+D is held.
– Sónar by Night, located at the Fira Gran Via de L’Hospitalet, hosts live performances and DJ sets from the best names in international music.

5. Hideout Festival 2019

6. medusa festival 2019

Medusa Festival is a huge techno music festival held on the sands of the Playa de Cullera in Cullera, Spain. Mainstream and underground DJ’s gather together to give you one epic festival! Adding to this, Medusa Festival incorporate a theme to every festival they host and this year it’s not different. 2019’s festival theme is titled ‘The Secret of Wonderland’! 7. Tomorrowland

8. Lisboa Electronica 2019

What?

This festival looks to celebrate Lisbon’s vibrant and colourful scene. Along with the array of national talent that will be performing, Lisboa Electronica is keen on discovering the best music from the best talents, international producers, DJs and collectives. So, if any of you are talented DJs this event serves as a perfect platform “for cultural exchange.” Popular record labels such as Clone Records, трип, and Slow Life are invited to the festival so you best get practising!

9. We Are FSTVL 2019!

 

Location: Damyns Hall Aerodrome, Upminster

Dates: 24-26 May 2019

What?

The 5-time award winning festival is back!

We Are FSTVL, who won Best Dance Event at 2016’s UK Festival Awards, will feature over 300 acts between the 24th til’ 26th may 2019 bringing the best artists in dance music, underground and grime.

We Are FSTVL also bring the best stage designs to give you the best festival experience. 2019 is no different. We Are FSTVL 2019 will be held on a 142-acre former WW1 airfield in Upminster, Greater London to help them with their “Neon Jetset Overload” theme!

10. A Summer Story

A Summer Story was created to unite everyone who loves electronic music. It is held just on the outskirts of Madrid at Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey. 12. Time Warp

 

Location: Mannheimer Maimarkt in Mannheim

What?

Not many festivals et to say they have been around for 25 years but Time Warp is one of them. And they have been giving you the best techno music for all those years!

Time Warp’s lineup always contains top class DJs, producers and electronic artists. Artists that have featured in previous festivals include Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos and Laurent Garnier. Video, laser and light displays which will make for an unforgettable atmosphere! Make sure you get an Insta pic to keep the memory.

13. Weekend festival Finland 2019

   

Location: Suvilahti, Sörnäisten rantatie 22, Helsinki, 00540, Finland

What?

Weekend Festival is an EDM, techno festival held in Helsinki, Finland. Started in 2012 it now hosts over 40,000 visitors who all love techno music! You’ll certainly be in the right atmosphere to enjoy the great music!

14. FLY Open Air 2019

 
What?

FLY set up a range of large electronic music festivals across Edinburgh. FlyOpen is one of them and is held not once but twice a year! Mixmag says that FlyOpen is “A global contender on the festival circuit.” They are usually all held in unique locations of Edinburgh which helps bring the true nature of Edinburgh to the festival. This year’s festival will be held at the huge 17th century stately home – Hopetoun House! It will get you feeling like you’ve travelled back in time. I wonder if you’re allowed in!

15. Junction 2 festival 2019

16. Kappa FuturFestival 2019

What

The New York Times has called it an unmissable event of that year. A giant in the techno music scene, Kappa FuturFestival is back for Summer 2019! This year’s festival is actually held in a cool industrial park in Parco Dora, Turin, Italy which makes a perfect backdrop for some great Instagram pics!  While showcasing major DJ’s, Kappa FuturFestival utilises homegrown Italian talent as well. So get ready to party non stop from midday to midnight across the 2 days!

17. Mayday 2019

We can definitely say that MAYDAY knows a thing or two about how to throw a festival! Having been around for the last 30 years they have been giving their visitors only the best techno music. The festival usually starts with techno and then transitions to playing bombastic hardstyle, house & electro.

18. Caprices Festival 2019

Location: Route des Mélèzes 13-15, Crans-Montana, 3963, Switzerland

Dates: 11-14 April 2019

What?

This 4-day event is the best place to go to if you’re looking for a different kind of techno festival because Caprices festival is actually held in a Swiss Alpine mountaintop of Crans-Montana! How cool is that! (Pun Intended*)

The concert runs throughout the day. The daytime stage, which is called MDRNTY, gives you the best views of the Alps while you listen to the best techno music.  What more could you want?

The most esteemed DJs on the planet, including Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Jamie Jones have played on this stage! MDRNTY has also won the Best International Festival Award in 2018 by DJ Awards Ibiza!

The nighttime stage, which is called MOON, takes place in a huge tent and provides spectacular visuals using technology. The likes of Tale Of Us, Dixon, Talaboman, Kerry Chandler, Ben Klock & Marcel Dettmann have all played on this stage!

19. Creamfields presents Steel Yard London 2019

What?

Steel Yard is back in London for 2019! Steel Yard has become one of dance music’s most famous venues and looks to continue that trademark this year!

Eric Prydz will be headlining on the Saturday as he brings his HOLO live show to London! On Sunday Carl Cox will take over and showcase his Space Ibiza show. Carl Cox was recently voted the world’s number one DJ so there is no doubt that this festival is going to be amazing!

20. AVA Festival 2019

Dates: 31 May – 1st June 2019

What?

AVA festival is an electronic music festival hosted in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The best house & techno artists are gathered and host a series of conferences and talks. Industry leaders and experts also attend AVA festival and are keen to share their expertise and discuss the future of the scene. This is a great festival for any upcoming DJ or for anyone looking to make a name for themselves in the industry!

2018’s edition featured the likes of Bicep, Rødhåd, Helena Hauff and Hunee all famous DJs so we can’t wait to see what 2019 has to offer!
