In some cities, a so-called cultural tax, also known as a tourist tax or city tax, is levied on tourists.
The tourist tax is paid upon arrival unless stated otherwise.

| Lisbon | €4.00 | charge (per person per night) applied to overnight stays for up to 7 nights in a row Exception
- Guests under the age of 13 are exempt from the tourist tax

- Exempt after the 5th consecutive day, in the period from the 7th day before Easter* to the first Sunday of November
- Exempt after the 3rd consecutive day, in the period from the 1st Sunday of November to the 8th day before Easter

- *Easter Sunday falls on a different day each year. The tourist tax dates change according to the Easter Sunday dates. See the Easter Sunday Observances for upcoming years here.
